THE ESTATE Château Peneau is located in the famous 1ères Côtes de Bordeaux wine region, between the areas of Saint Emilion and Sauternes, about 25 Km South-East of the city of Bordeaux. Situated on the highest point of the hill, the vines stretch over 29 hectares around the Chateau, in one continuous vineyard. THE QUALITY The quality of its wine depends partly on the type of grapes variety that is being used, but also on the exceptional combination of natural elements (Geography, Geology and Microclimates) that constitute its “terroir”.
The hilly landscape where the vineyard is located provides a veritable patchwork of soils and subsoils, forming a rich and diverse ensemble. Located at altitudes of over 300 metres, the plots benefit from generous sunshine and optimal ventilation.

Wine growing: Traditional methods; the vine’s growth is carefully supervised. Leaf-thinning is done before harvesting. To ensure optimum ripeness, green harvests are done at the stage of mid-veraison if necessary Harvests: Hand-picked for white grapes and mechanical for the red Technical data: Temperatures are controlled; fermentation at warm temperature in epoxy-coated vats. Temperatures are raised at the end of the vatting period. Use of pectolytic enzymes for extraction and colouring Maturation: 12 months in barrels Fining: Traditional, using only egg white Alcohol: 12, 5% vol.
